Perched above the Estreito de Cรขmara de Lobos Parish, Jardim da Serra is the youngest parish in the municipality. Created on July 5, 1996, Jardim da Serra's main ex-libris are the Quinta that bears its name and Boca dos Outubro. A fertile land for cherries, Jardim da Serra celebrates its favorite fruit every year with a party that attracts thousands of people from all over the island.

The parish is limited to the South by Estreito, to the North by Serra D'รgua, and to the West by Curral das Freiras, being made up of the following sites: Castelejo Fonte Frade Foro, Furneira, Pomar Novo, Jardim da Serra, Marco and Fonte da Pedra, Middle Orchard.

Built cultural heritage: Quinta do Jardim da Serra, Capela do Foro, and Quinta das Romeiras.

This parish is privileged for producing a unique wooden fruit, "The Cherry". At the end of March, the "awakening" of the cherry blossom is clearly visible, which surrounds this entire parish of enchanting beauty, so at this time you can witness some sporting and cultural activities, such as "The Cross of the Cherry Trees in Flower". In June or July, depending on the weather conditions, you can watch the cherry picking, also giving rise to the famous Cherry Festival in Jardim da Serra.

Cherry cultivation is one of the most important activities for the people of this parish, although horticulture (seeds or potatoes, onions, cabbages and others) and winemaking are also means of subsistence.

Places of tourist interest: Aguagem, Pico da Cruz das Moรงas, Boca da Corrida and Boca dosdados.

Quinta do Jardim da Serra

The island of Madeira is often described as a garden suspended in the Atlantic. And it makes total sense. All across the territory, there are many places where Nature surprises us with its unique exuberance. The municipality of Cรขmara de Lobos is home to one of these places: the Quinta do Jardim da Serra, which is currently a 5-star Bio Hotel.

This site is located in the parish of Jardim da Serra, the youngest parish on the island of Madeira. According to some authors, the name of this site derives from the estate located there, built in the 19th century by the English consul Henry Veitch.

The sumptuousness of the garden created there eventually gave Quinta do Jardim da Serra its name and fame. Its botanical richness has attracted a great deal of attention over the centuries. Not only have the island's natural trees been preserved here, but various other species from around the world have also been planted. Of these, we highlight the eucalyptus that can still be found at the entrance; with 200 years of age and a height of 64 meters, it leaves no one indifferent.

It is, even today, a place famous for the rare splendour of the Nature that surrounds it.
